Many people ask why Chateau Musar’s winery is more than a two and a half hour drive from the vineyards in the Bekaa Valley. When Gaston Hochar began making wine in 1930, the boundaries of Lebanon had not been set, and he wanted to ensure that his premises would be inside the newly demarcated country.

Veraison is a key turning point in the life of a grape #vine and in the development of any vintage. Veraison is when grape berries begin to change colour - green to red, black in red varieties, green to translucent and yellow in whites - they soften and shift their metabolism from growth towards ripening.Veraison is the dramatic stage when the seasons work shifts into its final decisive phase, like the starting grid of a Formula 1 race.On that starting line, acidity, sugar, ripeness and phenolic maturation jostle for supremacy. In a wet year, the finish favours bright acidity, in a hot season, ripeness surges ahead.
