Musar Wines Collection

The Hochar family’s philosophy of respect for the environment guides every part of the Musar Wines Collection. Across 220 hectares, the Musar vineyards are managed with minimal human interference, allowing the land, climate and vines to express themselves naturally. All wines are crafted with minimal intervention to preserve their authentic character.

Chateau Musar became the first producer in Lebanon to achieve organic certification for its own vineyards in 2006. Most of the Musar Wines Collection originates from the Bekaa Valley, cradled between two mountain ranges running parallel to Lebanon’s Mediterranean coastline. Vines have been cultivated here for at least 6,000 years. The Phoenicians, ancestors of modern Lebanese people, helped spread vines and wine culture from Byblos across the Mediterranean.

Flanked by snow‑covered mountains and situated at 1000m (3,000 feet) above sea level, the Bekaa Valley enjoys 300 days of sunshine a year, fresh mountain breezes and an average temperature of 25°C. Remote and unspoilt, the Musar vineyards were effectively ‘organic’ long before the term existed.

All grapes used in the Musar Wines Collection are hand‑harvested by local Bedouins between August and October. In the winery, ambient yeasts drive fermentation, and only the bare minimum of sulphur is used. Chateau Musar Red wines are neither fined nor filtered, ensuring purity and longevity.

Chateau Musar additionally produces L’Arack de Musar, Lebanon’s purest aniseed‑flavoured spirit, crafted with the same dedication to tradition and quality.
